Siriporn Rattanawong
Phuket · Wading In
"I signed up for Wading In not knowing what to expect. I have always managed to pay my bills and keep a little aside, but I had never really sat down and thought about any of it properly. The three sessions went at exactly the right speed for me. The printed guide is still on my kitchen table two months later."

Prawit Wongchai
Phuket · Finding Your Depth
"I had done a short course elsewhere before and it left me more confused than when I started. Finding Your Depth was different — each session actually connected to the one before. The midway check-in was the part I valued most, just a quiet conversation about what I had understood and what was still fuzzy."

Nantawan Jirawong
Patong · Far Horizon Programme
"Ten weeks sounds like a long time, but it went by steadily and I never felt rushed. By the end I had a real picture of what my retirement might look like — not exact numbers, but a proper sense of what I needed to think about. I then took that picture to a financial adviser, which I would not have been ready to do before."

Thanit Kulprasert
Chalong · Finding Your Depth
"What I appreciated most was that nobody tried to sell me anything. I had expected there to be some kind of product behind it all. There was not. The content was simply about how money works, what options exist in Thailand, and how to think clearly about savings. That is all I needed."

Malee Lertpanich
Rawai · Wading In
"I came to Wading In feeling a little embarrassed that I did not already know these things at my age. That feeling went away in the first session. Everyone in the room was in a similar position, and Nattawut explained everything as if it were the most normal topic in the world to be learning for the first time."

Atchara Panyarat
Phuket Town · Far Horizon Programme
"The planning folder they give you in the Far Horizon Programme ends up being surprisingly personal. By week eight it had my actual numbers in it, my questions, my rough thinking about the next ten years. The closing reflection session gave me a proper chance to look back at what had shifted in how I thought about things."

Three participant journeys in more detail
Kamolwan Phattharaphong, 52 — Phuket
Wading In → Finding Your Depth
Starting point
Kamolwan had worked steadily for twenty years and kept a savings account but had never looked at what was actually in it month to month. She described feeling "financially vague" — aware that she should be doing something but unsure where to begin.
What she did
She joined Wading In, completed all three sessions, and returned three months later for Finding Your Depth. The recorded lessons meant she could revisit the parts that covered fixed deposits, which she said she needed to watch twice before they clicked.
Where she arrived
By the end of Finding Your Depth she had a working budget, a clearer savings habit, and a set of questions ready for a meeting with a licensed adviser. She described the change as going from "not knowing what to ask" to "knowing exactly what I need to find out."
Boonlert Suthiwong, 47 — Chalong
Far Horizon Programme
Starting point
Boonlert had a reasonable income and some savings but had no sense of whether what he was putting aside was enough for retirement. Healthcare costs in later years were something he had not thought about at all.
What he did
He joined The Far Horizon Programme directly, having read about it and felt the ten-week structure was what he needed. He attended all sessions and found the healthcare module — weeks five and six — the most eye-opening part.
Where he arrived
His personal planning folder by the end of the programme included a rough projection of his expected costs in retirement. He used the closing reflection session to identify two gaps in his current approach, which he then discussed with a licensed professional.
Wanpen Chuaypradit, 55 — Thalang
Wading In
Starting point
Wanpen came to Wading In after her husband retired and she realised they had never sat down together to look at their combined finances. She had some reservations about whether she would follow the material given her limited background.
What she did
She completed all three Wading In sessions and shared the printed materials with her husband. The two worked through the practice sheets together at home, which she said helped both of them more than she had expected.
Where she arrived
She described the main change as feeling "less lost" when her husband talked about their finances. They had a shared set of words for concepts they had previously avoided discussing, which she said made practical conversations much easier.
